CAR OF THE WEEK

The Pinnacle of Performance

_____________________________________________________

1. High-Definition, Circular OLED Display & MINI OS 9

One of the most striking upgrades is the centrally mounted round 9.4-inch OLED touchscreen display, powered by the new MINI Operating System 9. It offers a high-resolution interface, touch and voice control, and serves as the hub for navigation, entertainment, and driver assistance. This minimalist display, with its smooth glass finish, pays homage to the simple, circular speedometers of classic Minis, while packing far more functionality.

2. MINI Experience Modes & Interactive Ambience

Rather than just driving modes, the Level 3 spec introduces MINI Experience Modes which change the cabin’s lighting, soundscape, even ambient styling to match different moods or driving contexts. These modes let drivers go from sport-oriented setting (louder, sharper) to more relaxed or comfort-oriented ones. It’s part of MINI’s push toward more immersive, personalised driving experiences.

3. Advanced Driver Assist & Semi-Automation

The Level 3 spec includes driver assistance features that bring partly automated driving capabilities. Systems such as Driving Assistant Professional and packs like “Driving Assistant Plus” support adaptive cruise, lane keeping, lane change assist on motorways, and can even enable hands-off steering in certain conditions. The integration of radar sensors into the new octagonal grille helps these systems function more seamlessly.

4. ALL4 All-Wheel Drive + Performance Engineering

Performance remains core to the JCW lineage. The Countryman JCW ALL4 brings a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine (roughly 300 bhp / 400 Nm torque) with ALL4 all-wheel drive, JCW sports suspension, and performance brakes (with Chili Red calipers) for enhanced grip, responsiveness, and braking prowess. The car accelerates 0-62 mph in approximately 5.4 seconds.

5. Heritage Touches Reimagined with Modern Design

MINI hasn’t forgotten its heritage. Elements from the 1960s Minis—compact proportions, the circular central motif, the “go-kart” handling feel—remain, but are updated. The new design features: a longer wheelbase, short overhangs, a reworked C-pillar, multiple selectable light signatures front and rear (including LED “goodbye/welcome” animations), classic styling cues like high-contrast roof/mirror colours, and JCW sporty accents. These design themes tie back to the original Mini's character, while embedding modern materials and tech.

In sum, the 2024 MINI Countryman JCW ALL4 Level 3 shows how MINI has matured: growing in size and capability, but preserving the quirky, joyful personality that made the brand iconic in the ’60s. Tech and performance now go hand in hand with heritage styling and driving fun.
