41 million and counting...Our 24/24 Ford Ranger Wildtrak by Predator

_____________________________________________________

There are many features that make our Ford Ranger Wildtrak 2.0 EcoBlue Predator a truly breathtaking off-roader. Whether it be its prodigious ground clearance, specialised off-road settings, or remarkable road presence, the latest Ranger takes inspiration from its American cousins – it is the real deal. First off, it would be sacrilege to fail to mention the incredible work which Stone-on-Trent-based UK business, Predator Conversion, has carried out in making the Ranger an outstanding vehicle.

And our example has been blessed with the Full English. The Full Predator X conversion comprises huge 20-inch Scorpion alloy wheels in satin black, LED roof light pod, night hawk LED grille (you’ve got to see it at night to fully appreciate it), rear bumper enhancement, front bar, Monster wheel arches, suspension lift kit, Predator Stealth kit, light covers, and tinted taillights. Even for the biggest off-road aficionados, that is a stand-out package.

Of course, these days (well, perhaps forever), buyers of pick-up trucks or SUVs do so for their road presence as much as their technical ability. To be seen in one of the very best off-road vehicles is something many love; it makes them feel safe, authoritative, and in control. The term, “Chelsea Tractor” has been used throughout the last couple of decades to ridicule 4X4s as needless fashion accessories. And some, may, indeed, place the Ford Ranger in that category.

But critically, the Ford Ranger is different from the rest in that it is based on a lineage of workhorses that, many would say, helped to establish the ‘American dream’ for those over the pond. More than 41 million Ford F150s have been sold since the vehicle was released 76 years ago, and the new Ranger builds on that remarkable history by enhancing something that had genuine utility in the first place.

Essentially, by building on a successful platform, Ford has merely adapted the pick-up formula for 2024, improving and enhancing what required updating, whilst retaining the soul of the thing. If we are forced to really think about it, the most successful cars are not those that are the best on paper, but those that strike a chord with the public. And the Ford Ranger by Predator certainly gets many admiring glances.
