Mercedes Benz SLC43 AMG Convertible Auto 2018

It’s been almost half a century since a couple of Mercedes engineers took it upon themselves to stop making cars and focus on producing race engines, and from that AMG was born. In 2004, Mercedes-Benz created the SLK55 AMG which ticked all the boxes for a powerhouse, pocket-sized roadster with a V8 engine shoved in front.

With the SLC43 AMG being its successor, it has two fewer cylinders, two more turbos, and less power. Which sounds like a step backwards, however, the SLC43 AMG is a more refined version of the pocket rocket concept. It’s a car that tends to be forgotten due to the volume of convertibles and sports cars Mercedes are currently producing. Yet, the SLC43 fits the market perfectly for those wanting a sports car with elements from every model possible. Convertible? A Coupe? A back-road bomber? A highway-ready quick grand tourer? An acceleration-happy muscle car? This SLC43 AMG comfortably ticks all those boxes when you didn’t even realise it.

The new SLC43 AMG with its 3-litre twin-turbo V6 produces 362BHP between 5500 and 6000RPM with its 420lb ft peak torque arriving at 2000RPM through to 4200RPM. Top speed is limited to 155MPH and 0-62MPH is a claimed 4.7 second, which is a mere one-tenth of a second slower than its outgoing compatriot the SLK55 AMG. Such acceleration comes with a crackling and raucous exhaust note when you lay into the throttle. Buying the SLC43 will leave you will a ‘jack-of-all-trades’ and the most diversified sports car experience you can get.

Our superb 2018 Mercedes Benz SLC43 AMG Convertible Auto holds a premium of optional features, mainly the fitted Night Package which presents the front splitter, fins in the front bumper, trim strip in rear diffuser, tailpipes, bonnet louvre and exterior mirror housings all finished in high-gloss black which offers a dynamic contrast from the Polar white body finish, but maintain the colour scheme through the black Nappa leather DINAMICA microfibre interior. Furthermore, the SLC43 AMG will more than satisfy throughout these cold winter months with the extra fitted heated seats and AIRSCARF neck-level heating to offer comfort and luxury on these crisp winter mornings. Yet, when the weather does decide to be more forgiving, you can experience the outside world with the click of a button removing the electro-hydraulic vario-roof system. There’s 18 Inch 10-spoke design AMG alloy wheels with contrasting red brake calipers from the AMG high-performance braking system, LED intelligent light system with adaptive high-beam assist plus, reversing camera with PARKTRONIC and AMG body styling throughout the vehicle. There’s even the quality of an IWC designed analogue clock on the dashboard which really accentuates the excellence of this vehicle. With only 7900 miles on the clock, our SLC43 has barely had chance to begin its life in the fast lane yet, it is a prime example of Mercedes’ AMG range and has been upheld to the highest of standards.
