BMW M240i Coupe Automatic 3.0L 2018

“The BMW 240i is a sensible coupe that turns into a raving lunatic when you want it to.”

An ancient performance car recipe followed to the letter. Tradition holds that if you start with a small car, combine it with a big engine and season the dish with appropriately sporty suspension, tyres and brakes, the result is usually quite tasty. Based on BMW’s 2-Series baby coupe, the M240i features all the above in a package designed to bridge the gap between regular models and the scintillating M2 range-topper.

BMW launched its 2 Series in 2014, essentially taking over to the position that the 1 Series Coupe and Convertible held before. The M235i was for several years the most powerful 2 Series available, with its impressive 3.0-litre straight-six being the car’s showpiece. Since then, BMW has launched an even more aggressive version of the 2 Series – the 365bhp M2. This has left a gap in the range to invest more power into, which BMW has now done with its 335bhp M240i, and notice the slight name change.

The engine is still the beating heart and showpiece of the M240i, but inside it’s a BMW through and through, with its refined and plush interior, the M240i keeps the 3.0-litre straight-six petrol engine as before. This delivers 335bhp and 500Nm of torque, allowing for some impressive performance figures. Sixty can be achieved in 4.6 seconds, or 0.2 seconds more if you choose one with a manual ‘box, with an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph. For a naturally aspirated engine, it offers an impressively consistent power delivery, and is as happy on a B-road as it is on a motorway.

The car is handsome and doesn’t draw attention to itself. It’s fantastically capable at doing what it was designed to do: drive well and excitingly. For someone looking for a nothing more than a fun sports car with usable storage space, the M240i is the one you want.

Here at Harvey Cooper Cars, we stock a barely-worn-in 2018 BMW M240i Coupe 3.0L Automatic, the vehicle has only covered 6,800 means it’s barely had chance to make acquaintance with the roads. It boasts the cost-option Sports Automatic Transmission for those that prefer the comfort of letting the engine do the work for you. What’s more, the factory fitted sun protection glass to offer privacy to the rear and the heated front seats really do accentuate the comfort of the vehicle which is a perfect contrast from the sports-car-feel exterior. Other optional features to note are the larger 18 Inch M Light Double Spoke style alloy wheels in gloss black, Gloss black Kidney Grille and Front and Rear Parking Distance control. Notable features from the M Sport modelling is the M aerodynamic body styling, M Performance TwinPower turbo six-cylinder engine, M Sport braking system with blue brake calipers and more.

Our M240i really does epitomize the expectations of a comfortable sports car, there’s the sports driving mode for those that show preference to a sportier feel on the roads – like mentioned, this car really is a sensible coupe that can turn into a lunatic. With the remainder of the manufacturer’s warranty until January 2021 and only one previous owner, who wants to be the next to owner of our little BMW Coupe?
