BMW’s famous marketing campaign: Ultimate Driving Machine, has arguably been overused – it helps BMW to sell cars, no matter the engine, drivetrain, or market segment. It is – essentially – a story. However – and this is a big ‘however’, there is substance behind the well-funded motto. BMW still produce some of the most evocative, entertaining, and engaging cars around. Ok – the name ‘M235i’ does suggest a product forged by the legendary ‘M’ division. It isn’t. But, in many ways, this is no bad thing – BMW has done such a good job at producing a fun, everyday premium saloon that it needs to be thought of as an alternative to a genuine ‘M’ car, not a lesser sibling.
