Drive Gracefully: Our Audi Q5 Edition 1
_____________________________________________________
To regular readers of Car of The Week, you’ll be familiar with the usual format highlighting some of the interesting facts, quirks, and key features of one of our inventory. Getting to know how a vehicle might fit into your life is an important part of the buying journey, and in this Q+A newsletter we hope to assist you in deciding what car you should buy next. This week, we’ll be focussing on our sensational 2023 Audi Q5 45 TFSI Edition 1 Quattro.
So, what is the Edition 1? How does it differ from any other Audi Q5?
The Edition 1 is “the pinnacle of the Audi range”, according to Audi themselves. Aside from the rare Vorsprung variants, the Edition 1 is the most sporty, luxurious, and feature-laden offering of the Q5. A Black Styling Pack, 3 spoke multifunction leather steering wheel, red brake calipers, and adjustable sports front seats are just a few features that make the Edition 1 shine.
Why should I part with my hard-earned cash and take the plunge?
Every Q5 offers a fantastic combination of practicality, comfort, style, sportiness, and reliability. But the Edition 1 takes everything to the next level. Crisp, uber-sparkly Ultra Blue metallic paint adds to the sense of occasion. Supple Black diamond-quilted Nappa leather with extendable seat cushions are not only extremely classy but support your back in places that you never knew needed supporting.
Is it economical?
The Edition 1 45TFSI was designed to thrill, so it is naturally not one of the most economical models in the range. Opt for the hybrid version, or the full electric e-tron if that is your priority. But even after getting the Q5 from 0-60mph in a brisk 6.1 seconds and producing 265hp, 32.1mpg is respectable. And if you constantly do motorway miles and shift the car into ECO mode, you’ll do better than that.
How quickly will it depreciate?
All new luxury models that are not limited in production tend to depreciate most rapidly in the first 2-3 years. However, the Q5 has tended to rank relatively well in depreciation surveys (Motortrend, 2021), and, being an Edition 1, it will holds its value better than most. It’s not a Ferrari 250 GTO, but as modern cars go it offers a solid potential investment. Our 2023 example is offered at £41,950.
Will it fit in my garage?
Well, the Edition 1 has a total length of 4.682 metres and a width of 2.14 metres with the mirrors extended. You'll have to get the tape measure out yourself, I'm afraid.
Will it cater to my tech addiction?
Quite possibly. You get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, so whether you’re an iPhone fan or an Android user, you’ll be able to play your Spotify playlist to your heart’s content. You’ve also got MMI navigation plus, a virtual cockpit with adjustable screens, DAB radio, and plenty of driving modes to suit your mood.
