The A5 Cabriolet is, indeed, not about outright performance. Leave that to the crazy ‘S’ and ‘RS’ offerings. But that doesn’t mean it is uninspiring to drive. Far from it. 118bhp is, admittedly, conservative, but the experience is dominated by the turbo, helping to deliver 235Nm torque, which is what you feel when you’re driving.

It is smooth, refined, compliant, easy to drive, and incredibly stylish. What more could you want from a cabriolet? There is a reason why Audi consistently receives praise for their attention to detail and build quality. The best way to sum up the A5 is that it feels as though it is honed from a solid block of granite. Some cars feel delicate, as if they’re going to give in at any moment. The A5 is the antithesis of that. You feel that it’ll go on forever, and that is why it makes such a complete year-round roadster.
